Turner Family Terrors 1-2: Horror-Comedy-Adventure

Created by Robert Krisch

A new comic starring monster-slaying, foul-mouthed, bumbling adventurers The Turner Family! Think The Simpsons meets Hellboy.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Wanna be drawn into the comic?
almost 3 years ago – Mon, May 31, 2021 at 03:43:22 PM

Hey there-

I want to thank you again for all the support and enthusiasm you've shared with the entire TFT Team (Rob, Ske, Chris, and Nicole). It's been awesome riding on this rollercoaster of a Kickstarter with you. Three days left.

Let's talk Cameos.

I want to highlight our Cameo Illustration Tier for a sec.  This might be one of the cooler aspects of creating comics. I get to throw my readers into the chaos! Your image will be illustrated in a scene in the upcoming TFT Issue #3 out later this year. And your caricature will also appear in the back of Issue #2, so you'll see your likeness in our current issue as well.

Last year for issue one it was such a blast finding spots to illustrate all our fans.
                We had blood-thirsty zombies...

                Paint brush wielding Warriors...

                 Guys walking their dog...

                 And a horde of Barbarians...

If you want to join in on the fun and be drawn into the comic, you can select Manage your pledge at the top of our main Kickstarter page, and upgrade to this Cameo tier.  We also just created this as an Add-on, so you can keep your current tier and simply add this on.

To Add this on, head to the top of our Kickstarter Page and click the "Manage Your Pledge".  Then select "Change your pledge".  Then select your pledge (even if it is the same exact pledge level as you previously had. Click that green button.).  Then you will see a screen with your pledge and the Add-Ons below that are available for purchase.

There are only 5 Cameos left.  Go grab a spot and artist Ske Bozic will draw you into the comic. Pretty Cool.

Other Fantastic projects on Kickstarter... and 2 solid dudes.

I've met a bunch of talented creators over the past couple of years, and so many more over this past whirlwind month on Kickstarter.   Some have amazing comics, some have been incredibly supportive. These next two creators fall into both categories: Rob Multari and Clay Adams.

First up is Rob.

Rob Multari is back with Night Wolf #1-5: Urban Fantasy Werewolf Coming-of-Age Drama

After discovering his werewolf lineage, a young man is reluctantly thrown into a supernatural war.

Born into the outcast breed of werewolves known as the Monoki, eighteen-year-old Rodney Marcelli is reluctantly pulled into an ancient war between good and evil, during a modern time where the line has blurred.

I was a fan of this series before I met Rob.  If you're into Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Underworld, and other anti-hero monster horror stories you will love this comic. I backed this baby on day one and you should back it today. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/multari/night-wolf-1-5-urban-fantasy-werewolf-coming-of-age-drama

Next up is Fried Comics and writer/creator Clay Adams.  Clay is back with:
PBOW: World War Bitch 1-2 Grindhouse Action Comedy

Dystopian sci-fi for mature readers that's The Handmaid's Tale meets Kill Bill. The sequel to the cult hit continues!

Funny story: A few months back when I received my proof copy of Issue #1 of TFT.  I had my wife give it one last look-over. She laughed at all the right gags, but there was one spot where she kinda stopped and said "Oh, you left that bit in."  I asked "Uh-oh. Was it a little too much?... but, its funny I had to keep in... right?"  And for a brief moment I thought to myself did I cross the line, did I go too far for the joke.  For a fleeting moment, I was sort of questioning myself.  Well, lucky for me I soon discovered Fried Comics and writer Clay Adams.  Once I read some of their boundary smashing hilarious comics, I knew I hadn't crossed the line, hell, I needed to lean into it a little more.

Fried Comic's Deadskins might be my favorite comic of all time, so smart and funny.  And Clay is back with another volume of Pregnant Bitches of War (yeah, Pregnant Bitches of War... love that title).

Here's the Pitch:
"Plucked from the time-stream by mad scientist Nikola Tesla, six pregnant women accidentally kill a young Hitler -- and unleash a nightmare future! Now, hunted by the Exalted Father, and with Tesla acting as Charlie to their Angels, they must save the world from a hell of their own creation... before their water breaks!"

PBOW is my absolute number one guilty pleasure on Kickstarter right now.  Go back this campaign and check out their Variant Cover.  That's what I treated myself to this time around.

That's it for today.  Three days left.  Click here to grab a Cameo spot in Turner Family Terrors and have a great weekend!

Kickstarter Creates a New Bonus Feature - Introducing Add-Ons.
almost 3 years ago – Tue, May 25, 2021 at 05:11:03 AM

Hey There.

A few months back Kickstarter rolled out a brand spankin' new feature - it's their Add-on option.  You can now manage your pledge tier and Add On an extra item.  We are keeping our campaign pretty simple this go around -  offering just 3 Add-ons.  BUT THEY ARE COOL  -  Limited edition Variant Covers and First Print Editions of Issue #1.   I wanted to rave about them for a sec.

First up is our TFT Issue #2 Variant Cover by Argentinian Artist Joel Saavedra.

I always wanted to commission a "Puzzle" Variant Cover and Joel painted an absolute beauty.

His detail work is just gorgeous.

This Variant Cover takes us on a visual ride through Roswell, NM, the location for issue #2, but also gives a glimpse of what the future will hold for our sweet, little Sophie.  (Spoiler: It's gonna be dark. ) We're printing a very limited quantity (around 50), they are Kickstarter Exclusives, so now's the time to add one of these beauties to your collection.

Next up we have Turner Family Terrors Issue #1 - art by Serbian illustrator Ske Bozic.

For Issue#1, we went with an homage to my favorite Artist - Mike Mignola and his fantastic Lobster Johnson covers.  The Heroes.  The Villains.  Illustrator Ske Bozic's charming character design work right there on full display.  We have less than 50 of these 'First Print' editions still available, and once they're gone, that's it.  These inaugural prints are available as Add-Ons for $15 (Free US Shipping) in the Add-Ons store.

TFT Issue #1 Interior Cover - "First Printing"

So how do I access these Add-Ons?

Thats a good question and I didn't even know the answer until this past Friday.  It took a little trial and error, but I figured it out.  Head to the top of our Kickstarter Page and click the "Manage Your Pledge".  Then select "Change your pledge".  Then select your pledge (even if it is the same exact pledge level as you previously had. Click that green button.).  Then you will see a screen with your pledge and the Add-Ons below that are available for purchase.  Easy right? I did say Kickstarter just rolled this thing out.  It might be a little tricky to access, but to grab these collector issues, it's definitely worth it.

Thanks again for all the support and love.  It's been a wild three weeks.  Nine days left. Woo Hoo.

Rob the TFT Team - Ske, Chris and Nicole

(Did I just get through an entire update without an exclamation point? That's a first.)

Other Awesome Projects on Kickstarter:

Forgotten Hymns #1-2 of a Lovecraftian Noir Horror Comic

"When a billionaire heiress returns home to cover up her father’s crime, she must confront the dark occult secrets her family is tied to."

Another Black and White gem from the oh-so talented Andrew Guilde.  Pick this one up!

Next up is:

Legends of the Realm: Torn Soul

The Torn Soul gathers an army, overthrows the kingdom, and establishes peace. But does the story change when told by another?

The artwork is electric in this 51 page spiritual epic from my friend Jack Holder.  Can you even fit 51 pages in a floppy? You definitely get your money's worth with this baby.  Check it out.

Also there's:

Digitopia 1-3: The entire pre-apocalyptic action comic book

Totalitarian Governments crushing Freedom Fighters in a world where fake news rules and society is imploding in a 76 page action comic

Here's the pitch:

"Digitopia is a pre-apocalyptic action adventure story of a father and daughter trying to survive in a civilisation that is imploding, where everyone from the army, society and bounty hunters are out to get them."

Yes, yes, yes - I'm in.  Can't wait to read this new issue from Creator Farhan Qureshi.

And lastly

Don't forget to back 'Buddy'  and get your limited original print of the TEAM UP.  The adorably sweet pug Buddy and not-so-sweet Sophie Turner from Turner Family Terrors kicking some monster butt.

Another Stretch Goal Smashed, Buddy Crossover Event Slays, and a New Art Tier Arrives!
almost 3 years ago – Thu, May 20, 2021 at 12:04:05 PM

Thank you so much!

Big thanks again for all the enthusiasm you've shared with our little comic.  The TFT team (Rob, Ske, Chris and Nicole) are humbled by the support.  And to show our appreciation we've got some free stuff for ya!

Limited Edition Signed Bookmarks!

We passed the 5K Stretch Goal marker.  Whoop Whoop. The bookmarks are yours! Our next Stretch Goal arrives at $5,500 - a Kickstarter Exclusive Digital Link to my award winning horror short film - The Crows of Culver.  The festival run has wrapped - 20 film festivals world-wide, including screenings at Hollywood's Chinese Theatre. Now you'll get exclusive access to the film!  We're $200 away from surpassing this goal - lets go get it!

The TFT/Buddy Crossover Event Slays!

Fans are loving these adorable little monster-slayers.  Backers of both campaigns will receive this limited edition original print from artist Jim Harrington (IG @jpharringtonjr).  The Team-Up only lasts two more weeks.  Back Buddy today and don't miss out.

New Original Art Tier Added

I just added a new Original Art Tier to our Kickstarter page.  It's this amazing 11x17 physical ink illustration from Guest Artist and writer/creator Dylan Campbell (@dylandrawsdraws).  This one is special for me. Three years ago I walked into my local comic shop, Pulp Fiction Comics, and met Dylan who was signing copies of his charming book Scared By The Bell.  I told him I wanted to be a comic book creator and asked "How the hell do you do it?" He helped lead me down the path.  It's three years later and here's his Pinup for the second issue of my comic!  Just amazing. You can click into your current pledge, manage it, and upgrade your purchase to grab this little beauty.  Act fast on this one, or it's going on my wall - Ha!

More Cool Kickstarters This Month:

My friend and fellow Texan Cindy Koepp has brought her first passion project to Kickstarter - Animal Eye #1.   It's got a Hunger Games / Ready Player One feel to it.   Playtesters join a virtual fantasy role-playing game with a unique twist, one where they become animal companions to human characters in the game. So many great projects this month!

Back Both Comics (TFT & Buddy #1) and Receive an Original Art Print!
almost 3 years ago – Mon, May 17, 2021 at 06:03:31 PM

Hey Everyone-

It's the Turner Family Terrors / Buddy Crossover Event

Psyched about this one!

Backers of both TFT and Buddy campaigns will receive an EXCLUSIVE KICKSTARTER ORIGINAL PRINT.

Saving the world from impending doom is hard work.  Just ask our lovably, dysfunctional monster-slayers The Turner Family.  But don’t fret - help is on the way.  It’s Buddy! - the adorable Pug from Terry Mayo’s latest comic ‘Buddy #1’- also LIVE on Kickstarter.

Buddy #1 reminds me a lot of Turner Family Terrors - it's sweet, scary, funny, demented.  In this comic Buddy must summon the courage to protect his clueless humans from a sudden onslaught of devilish beasts Hellbent on World domination!

Back both campaigns until June 2nd and receive a Limited Edition Original Print from artist Jim Harrington (@jpharringtonjr). Don’t miss out on the chance to get this ORIGINAL KICKSTARTER ART PRINT featuring the adorably sweet Buddy and the not-so-sweet Sophia Turner.  The Turner Family and Buddy TEAMING UP!  exclusively on KICKSTARTER!

BACK BOTH CAMPAIGNS TODAY.
